What is anger? Before we learn how to deal with anger, we must first learn to recognise it and understand it. Even though most people experience anger at a number of points in our lives, once the emotion has passed, it is rare that we go back and truly examine it. The first step to managing your anger in more productive and beneficial ways is to inspect it more closely, be open to learning about the ‘how, what, and why’ of your anger.
In order to do this it’s helpful to get a handle on the facts. There are many myths in our society about what anger is and how it works. The next topic explores common myths about anger, and next to them the facts. Once you learn the facts you can dispel the myths, and in doing so will have a much better understanding of anger.
